Why age matters so much in dynasty

In a dynasty league you keep players for years, so a trade is a bet on future production as much as on this season. Positions age differently. Running backs take the most hits and fade first, receivers last longer, and quarterbacks can stay productive well into their thirties. The calculator projects each player's next four seasons from his current level with a position-specific age curve, so a young player still growing into his role gains value and a veteran near the cliff loses it.

Contenders and rebuilders

A fair value trade can still be right for one team and wrong for the other. If you are chasing a title this year, switch the league type to Redraft to see this season's value alone: if you win that view and the dynasty view is close, the deal fits a contender. Rebuilding teams should look at the opposite pattern.

Questions

How are dynasty values different from redraft values?

Dynasty values add four future seasons to this season's remaining value. Each future season starts from the player's current per-game level, follows an age curve for his position, and counts for less the further out it is. Sleeper dynasty draft position is blended in as a market check.

At what age do running backs lose value?

In our curve, running backs peak at 24 and 25 and start to fall at 27. By 30 a running back keeps a little over half of his peak output. Wide receivers hold their peak until about 28, tight ends until 28, and quarterbacks into their early thirties.

Does the dynasty calculator handle Superflex?

Yes. Turn on Superflex and quarterbacks gain value both from the extra starting slot and from Superflex dynasty draft position.

Are rookie draft picks included?

Not yet. Picks are on the roadmap. For now, compare a pick by finding a rookie or young player you would value about the same.

How do injured players count in dynasty?

A player on injured reserve loses this season's value but keeps his future seasons, so a young star on IR still carries most of his dynasty value.
